Because the summer weather in the UK, where I live, has been so warm and lovely, it gave me cause to reflect on the controversy of global warming, which is now called climate change. I decided therefore to carry out a time series analysis on two datasets that I have access to, being global temperatures and sea ice.

With regard to global temperatures, I used the timestamped date as the index and only one column of data to make it a univariate time series dataset. I resampled the data for the mean of each year, and it could be clearly seen that global temperatures have been rising since at least 1970:-

I obtained the sea ice dataset from the seaborn library, which has the dataset posited in the library. I used the same tactic that I had used with the global temperatures dataset, by timestamping the date and resetting it as the index, as well as resampling the time series and using the mean of the year. Looking at the resampled yearly sea ice figures, and it can be clearly seen that the ice mass is slowly shrinking:-
