The coronavirus pandemic was a global pandemic of the COV19 virus. This virus was first identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019 before it spread to Asia and then to the rest of the world in early 2020. In order to contain the virus, countries all over the globe instituted lockdowns, which had the effect of causing the largest global recession since the Great Depression.
The COV19 pandemic was in essence very controversial in the UK, where I live, because the government instituted a lock down, requiring businesses to close and people to stay indoors, not socialising. In addition, although the UK government was requiring ordinary people to suffer extreme social hardships, it has come to public attention that the very same government officials were not even following rules that they devised, evening going to the off licence and filling suitcases with spirits and having parties at 10 Downing Street!
In addition to the lockdown, vaccines were created and people were told that they could not return to pre-pandemic normalcy unless they took the vaccine. Medical professionals were dismissed from their jobs if they refused to receive the vaccine.
