I have been using AVG Antivirus freely for the past decade with no problems whatsoever. In fact, I liked the free antivirus software so much that I had installed the AVG secure browser on my laptop.
For the last couple of weeks I had been receiving messages on my laptop saying that my AVG antivirus software was about to expire, and eventually I received a message advising me that the subscription to the software package had expired.
Early this morning I decided to carry out an internet search on whether AVG was still free, and I was given the information that the antivirus software is still free but the company is trying to direct people to the paid version of the software package.
I therefore attempted to renew my subscription to the free version of AVG and was blocked from doing so, being given a message that the free facility was not available and to try again later. In essence, I no longer had any virus protection unless I paid for it.
I was worried about this so searched for another free virus protection and was able to install Avira on my laptop, giving me basic virus protection.
I then uninstalled AVG Antivirus from my laptop because I don’t want to expend memory capacity that I don’t have to. When I uninstalled the package, AVG wanted to know why I was uninstalling the software…
