A little over a year ago I had read the first book in the Judy Vernon series, In Death as in Life, written by Sonny Kohet. That review can be read here:- https://medium.com/@tracyrenee61/book-review-in-death-as-in-life-by-sonny-kohet-549f40567210

When I found out, through LinkedIn and Facebook, that Sonny had written another book, I felt that I needed to read it because I have read so much of his work in the past.

Broken Promises, Broken People is a sequel to In Death as in Life, but has a whole different twist to the story. The characters in the earlier work have further developed and have formed relationships, some healthy and not so healthy.

The story centres around a diner named after Frank Farrington, who was a protagonist in the first book of the series. This diner had a 1950’s style to it, and Judy Vern and her invited guests would attend the diner daily for breakfast. Although Judy was financially well off when the first book was written, she married into money when she wed Myron Myerson, and this opened the story up to other venues.

One venue that the characters of the story went was the Secret Garden, which was a popular wedding venue. A plot of land, the Oasis, was purchased and developed for the community. In addition a new restaurant and bar were built.
