CoPilot does not always provide the correct answer to Excel queries
I think that CoPilot is a fantastic tool, but there are some things that it gets wrong. I have stated in previous posts that one large language model (LLM), ChatGPT, would provide me with deprecated code whenever I asked a coding question, but now I have a situation where the LLM that I am using, CoPilot, is providing me with new code.
Although my personal copy of Excel is the most up to date edition because I pay for it, in my place of work I am still using the Excel 2016 version of the product. The newer edition of Excel has more functions than the 2016 version, which means that a person will have to use different techniques to derive the same answer.
Today I asked CoPilot a question about calculating a geometric distribution in Excel, and it gave me the answer using Excel 2021. The answer is great, but since I have to use Excel 2016 at my place of work, it presented a bit of a conundrum.
I therefore asked CoPilot if Excel 2016 can calculate geometric distribution, and was given the answer that it would be used to answer a question about Excel 2021, being GEOM.DIST.
