A few days ago I was looking on the social networking site, LinkedIn, and read a post made by Olivier Maugain where he was discussing the importance in choosing the correct significance level when carrying out a hypothesis test. Oliver ended the post by offering the course that he had developed and put on Udemy for free. This course is normally sold at a price of £34.99, so I decided to put my current projects aside and enrol in the course immediately because I did not know how long the free offer was going to last.

When I began taking the course I noticed how polished it was. Olivier had used graphics to tell seven stories about how people in sales and marketing roles carried out hypothesis testing to see if they could improve sales by opting to choose one activity over another. I found the course to be very fast paced and had difficulty taking adequate notes on the topics that were covered.

Overall, Olivier covered many subjects that I am already familiar with, such as mean, median, and standard deviation. He also discussed histograms as a way to determine the distribution of the data. One thing that Olivier did discuss of note was the purpose of the Q-Q plot. I learned that the Q-Q plot is supposed to be used alongside the histogram to determine what a data’s distribution is.
