In my last blog post I discussed how to create an exponential distribution in Excel, and that post can be read here:- https://tracyrenee61.medium.com/create-an-exponential-distribution-in-excel-277cdfbe61e2

In this post I intend to show the reader how to create a lognormal distribution in Excel.

The British mathematician Donald McAllister in 1879 appears to have been the first person to give a comprehensive view of the lognormal distribution.

The lognormal distribution is a right skewed continuous probability distribution, meaning it has a long tail towards the right.

The lognormal distribution is the probability of a random variable whose logarithm follows a normal distribution . it models phenomena whose relative growth rate is independent of size, which is true of most natural phenomena including the size of tissue and blood pressure, income distribution, and even the length of chess games.

The formula for the lognormal distribution is:-

In order to create a lognormal distribution, it is first necessary to enter the input values that will be used. Enter the below formula in cell A3 and copy it down to cell A35:-

=RANDBETWEEN(1,25)
