I my last blog post I discussed how to create a Weibull; distribution in Excel, and that post can be read here:- https://medium.com/@tracyrenee61/create-a-weibull-distribution-in-excel-ef3c7adb3cad

In this post I intend to discuss how to create the f distribution in Excel.

The f distribution was first derived by the American mathematician and statistician George Snedecor and is named in honour of British polymath Sir Ronald Fisher.

The f distribution is a univariate continuous distribution often used in hypothesis testing. It arises frequewntly as the null distribution of a test statistic, most notable in the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and other f tests.

The formula for the f probability distribution function (PDF) is:-

In order to create the f distribution, it is first necessary to define the numerator and the denominator of the degree of freedom. In this instance I defined the numerator as 20 and the denominator as 20 in cells E3 and F3 respectively.

It is then necessary to enter the input values into the worksheet. In this instance I used the RAND() function to input random numbers from 0 to 15 in cells A3 to A103:-

=RAND()*15
