How to download a csv file from Yahoo Finance and view it on a csv viewer

One thing that many people are interested in when it comes to time series forecasting is making predictions on stock prices. There are two major platforms that people use to find stock prices, being Google Finance and Yahoo Finance. In this blog post I intend to discuss Yahoo Finance and how to download historical data in the form of a comma separated value (csv).

The first thing to do is to research the company whose stock prices you would like to obtain in the search engine and click onto the link for Yahoo Finance and that company:-

You will be taken to Yahoo Finance and the page of the company you are looking for (hopefully). Click onto the button, ‘Historical Data’:-

You will then be taken to a page that has the company’s historical data in tabular form. Click onto the button, ‘download’:-
