I have been studying data science for over two years now, so it has been only a matter of time that I would consider obtaining employment as a data scientist. I therefore have had a look at what the job of the data scientist entails to find out a little bit more about this role.

Data science is an interdisciplinary field that uses scientific methods, processes, algorithms and and systems to extrapolate knowledge and insights from noisy, structured, and unstructured data, and apply knowledge from data across a broad range of application domains. Data science is related to data mining, machine learning and big data.

Data science is a concept to unify statistics, data analysis, informatics, and their related methods in order to understand and analyse actual phenomena with data. It uses techniques drawn from many fields, to include mathematics, statistics, computer science, information science and domain knowledge.

A data scientist is someone who creates programming code and combines it with statistical knowledge to create insights from data.

Data science is an interdisciplinary field that is focused on extracting knowledge from large datasets and applying that knowledge and insight to solve problems in a wide range of application domains.
