What is data?
Data refers to facts and statistics collected together for reference or analysis.
Categories of data
The two main categories of data are:-
- Qualitative is composed of nominal and ordinal.
- Quantitative is composed of discrete and continuous.
Qualitative data is composed of:-
- Nominal data is data with no inherent order or ranking, such as gender or race.
- Ordinal data is data with an ordered series.
Quantitative data is composed of:-
- Discrete data is also known as categorical data, it can hold a finite number of possible values. An example is the number of students in a class.
