I unfortunately found out that a very good friend had been living a double life, operating as a church goer out in the open but a swindler under cover. Because I have a keen interest in artificial intelligence (AI), I decided to research what effect that AI has on crime.

During the course of my investigation, I came across the research paper, “The use of Artificial Intelligence in the criminal justice system (a comparative study)”, written by Ali Faghiri Kabol in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The paper was primarily written using the UAE’s legal system as a frame of reference, so it was not a general purpose work that could be applied to several different countries. The paper was supposed to be a comparative study, but I am not sure exactly where the comparison lies because, as already stated, it dealt primarily with the UAE’s legal system. Although the research paper had been written in English, it is evident that it had been translated from Arabic, so was somewhat difficult to read. Nevertheless, I read the paper with the intention of finding out as much as I can about the impact that AI has on the criminal justice system, now and in the future:-

The study is aimed at how to use AI in achieving criminal justice.
