I have previously written two blog posts using the Boston House Price dataset as a reference. These posts are:-

  1. Use Excel to perform an analysis of the Boston House Price dataset:- https://medium.com/@tracyrenee61/use-excel-to-analyse-the-boston-house-price-dataset-f5072cc4a7af
  2. Use Excel to create a dashboard for the Boston House Price dataset:- https://medium.com/@tracyrenee61/use-excel-to-create-a-simple-dashboard-on-the-boston-house-price-dataset-c9fce7faf80e

In this blog post I intend to show the user how to perform descriptive statistics on the Boston House Price dataset using the Data Analysis plug-in.

Descriptive statistics are used to report or describe the features or characteristics of data. They summarise a particular numerical data set,or multiple sets, and deliver quantitative insights about that data through numerical or graphical representation.

While the user can use the various formulas programmed into Excel to calculate the different metrics that comprise descriptive statistics, there is a Data Analysis plug-in that will calculate all of these values in just a few keystrokes.
