Use Excel’s Pivot Table to create an ungrouped frequency distribution
One important construct in statistics is the frequency distribution. There are several says to construct a frequency distribution by hand and also using the Python programming language.
In order to create an ungrouped frequency distribution by hand, the statistician must draw a table of three columns. Each category should be placed on a separate row in the left hand side of the table. The middle row is composed of talleys so that every time a category is found, a mark is placed in the corresponding row in the talley column. The third column of the table will be the total of the marks in found in the talley column.

The manual ungrouped frequency distribution is useful for small amounts of data, but if there is a lot of data then it is best to allow a software package, such as Excel, Python, or Google Sheets, to carry out the work entailed to create one.
In this blog post I have created an ungrouped frequency distribution using Excel. I have created a table of fictional names and teams that they belong to. In the ribbon at the top of Excel:-

- Click on the Pivot Table icon
