YouTube Video Review: Intro to Programming and Computer Science
The courses that people studying computers 35 years ago were significantly different than they are today. With this in mind, I decided to take the YouTube course, Intro to Programming and Computer Science, to see how the information presented in this course was different to the courses that I studied over three and a half decades ago.
This course was written by two 18 year old students, Steve and Sean, and I found it to be of superior quality.
The course covered a lot of techniques and the only two items that were similar to what I studied in my college days all those years ago were variable definitions, functions and psuedocode and flowcharting. In fact, one of the first courses that I took whilst studying computers was flowcharting. When I studied programming languages, I did not have the benefit of libraries, and had to write my programs from the language’s reserved word list. The languages that I studied in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s were Basic, Pascal, Cobol, and C. With the exception of C, none of the programs that I studied today are in use any longer, which means that I have been required to start all over again and learn other languages to continue my studies.
Without further ado, I will begin the review of this top course:-
