I recently wrote a book review on the tome, ‘A Programmers Introduction to Mathematics’, and this review can be found here:- https://tracyrenee61.medium.com/book-review-a-programmers-introduction-to-mathematics-cc779e0babec

I found that review to be quite difficult because the book was designed for postgraduate work. I wanted to cover something a bit more basic, so when I came across the YouTube video, ‘Math for programmers tutorial — a full course on sets and logic’, I decided to watch the video and see if I could gleen some information out of it.

This video in particular only covered two mathematical subjects, being sets and logic. I recall covering sets in school and logic when I was in technical school in the military. This being the case, I already had a very basic understanding of these two topics.

What is discrete math?

Discrete math is the study of mathematical concepts that can be considered discrete, as opposed to continuous. Objects studied in discrete mathematics include integers, graphs, and statements in logic. Discrete mathematics has been characterised as a branch of mathematics dealing with countable sets.
